Terms of Service
Last updated: August 27, 2026
Please read these Terms carefully. They set out the rules for using the Manifest desktop Git client, Manifest Cloud, and the MCP bridge while Manifest is in private alpha and beyond. Alongside them, our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and our Cookie Policy explains cookies on the website.
1.Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("you" or "Customer") and Vector One, Inc. ("Vector One", "we", "us"), a Delaware corporation in the United States. They govern your access to and use of the Manifest desktop application for macOS, Windows, and Linux (the "App"), the Manifest website at manifestgit.com (the "Site"), the optional Manifest Cloud account service and MCP bridge ("Manifest Cloud"), and any related documentation, updates, and support (together, the "Service").
By requesting access, downloading or installing the App, creating a Manifest Cloud account, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you are accepting on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity, and "you" refers to that entity. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to use the Service.
2.Private alpha access
Manifest is currently offered as a private alpha. Access is granted at our sole discretion, in response to a request submitted through the "Request access" form on the Site or another invitation channel we operate. Submitting a request does not guarantee access, and we may approve, defer, or decline any request without giving a reason.
When we approve a request, we send a personal download link to the email address you provided. Download links are personal to you, expire after a limited time, and may be limited to a fixed number of downloads. You may not share, publish, resell, or transfer a download link, an invitation, or an alpha build to anyone else.
Alpha software is provided so that you can evaluate it and give us feedback. It may contain defects, may change or be withdrawn without notice, and may not be suitable for production use. We may suspend or end the alpha program, revoke individual access, or require you to update to a newer build at any time. Features described on the Site, including pricing tiers, are subject to change before general availability.
3.License and restrictions
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Vector One grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices that you own or control, for your internal business or personal purposes, during the term of this agreement. The App is licensed, not sold.
Except where applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction, you agree not to:
- copy, modify, translate, adapt, or create derivative works of the App or any part of the Service;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the App, except for portions that we publish under an open-source license;
- rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, distribute, host, or otherwise make the App or alpha builds available to third parties;
- remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notice, code signature, or branding;
- bypass, disable, or interfere with license checks, access approval, update mechanisms, security guardrails, or usage limits;
- use the Service to build a competing product, or benchmark it for publication without our prior written consent while the Service is in alpha.
Portions of the App incorporate third-party and open-source components that are licensed under their own terms. Those terms apply to those components and are listed in the App's acknowledgements.
4.Accounts, GitHub identities, and tokens
Manifest lets you connect one or more GitHub accounts ("identities") using GitHub's authorization flows. Your use of GitHub is governed by GitHub's own terms and policies; Vector One is not affiliated with GitHub, Inc. and does not act as your agent with GitHub.
GitHub access tokens, SSH keys, and other credentials that you provide to the App are stored on your device using AES-256-GCM encryption. They are used solely to perform the Git and GitHub API operations you initiate from the App, and are not transmitted to Vector One. You are responsible for keeping your device and those credentials secure, for choosing appropriate token scopes, and for all activity performed with your identities through the App. Revoke a token from GitHub immediately if you believe it has been compromised.
If you create a Manifest Cloud account, you must provide accurate information and keep it current. You are responsible for safeguarding your sign-in and for any activity under your account. Notify us at legal@wearevectorone.com without delay if you suspect unauthorized use.
5.Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
- use the Service to access repositories, accounts, or data that you are not authorized to access;
- violate GitHub's terms, rate limits, or acceptable-use policies, or use the App to automate abusive activity such as spam, mass following, or scraping;
- upload or distribute malware, or use the Service to infringe intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights of any person;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of Manifest Cloud, or attempt to interfere with its operation, without our prior written authorization;
- impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation when requesting access or using the Service;
- use the Service in violation of applicable export-control or sanctions laws.
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe a violation has occurred.
6.Manifest Cloud and the MCP bridge
Manifest Cloud is an optional account service. Signing in enables features such as an auto-provisioned token for the built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) bridge, per-client MCP permissions, an audit log, and paid plan management. The core Git client works without a Manifest Cloud account.
The MCP bridge runs locally on your device and exposes Git and GitHub operations to MCP-compatible assistant clients that you choose to connect. When you connect a client, that client can perform actions in your repositories and GitHub accounts within the permissions you grant. You are solely responsible for the clients you connect, the permissions you assign, the prompts and instructions you give them, and any actions they take with your identities, including commits, pushes, pull requests, releases, and repository-settings changes. Review the audit log and the permission settings regularly.
Third-party assistant clients and models are provided by their respective vendors under their own terms. Vector One does not control them, does not receive your repository contents through them, and is not responsible for their output or availability.
Manifest Cloud tokens and MCP API keys are confidential. Do not commit them to repositories or share them. We may rotate or revoke tokens where we believe they have been exposed.
7.Subscriptions and billing
The Free plan is available at no charge. Pro and Team plans, when offered, are paid subscriptions billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis at the prices shown on the Site at the time of purchase, plus any applicable taxes. During the private alpha, paid plans may be provided free of charge or as a trial; we will tell you before any charge applies.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then.
- Payment. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider acting as merchant of record or payment processor. By subscribing you authorize recurring charges to your payment method. If a payment fails, we may downgrade or suspend paid features after notice.
- Price changes.We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice by email or in the App. Changes apply from your next renewal.
- Refunds. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable. Consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom may have a statutory right of withdrawal, which we honour in accordance with applicable law.
- Team plans. The account owner who purchases a Team plan is responsible for seats, member access, and compliance by members with these Terms.
8.Intellectual property
The Service, including the App, Manifest Cloud, the Site, and all software, designs, logos, trademarks, text, and other content, is owned by Vector One or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Except for the limited license granted in these Terms, no rights are granted to you, and all rights are reserved. "Manifest" and "Vector One" are trademarks of Vector One.
You retain all rights in your repositories, source code, commit history, and other content that you manage with the App ("Your Content"). Your Content stays on your device and with the Git hosting provider you use; Vector One does not claim any ownership of it and does not receive it.
9.Feedback
We welcome bug reports, feature requests, and other feedback, especially during the alpha. If you provide feedback, you grant Vector One a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate it into the Service without any obligation to you. Feedback is provided voluntarily and is not confidential unless we agree otherwise in writing.
10.Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VECTOR ONE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that defects will be corrected, or that the Service will meet your requirements. This applies in particular to alpha builds. Git is a powerful tool: operations such as force-pushes, branch deletion, history rewriting, and repository-settings changes, whether initiated by you or by an MCP client you connected, can result in data loss. Keep backups and use branch protection.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights.
11.Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VECTOR ONE AND ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS, OR COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, HOWEVER CAUSED AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO VECTOR ONE FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD 100).
These limitations do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or to any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12.Term and termination
These Terms apply from the moment you first use the Service and continue until terminated. You may stop using the Service and uninstall the App at any time, and may delete your Manifest Cloud account from the App's settings or by contacting us.
We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Service, with notice where practicable, if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, if we discontinue the alpha or the Service, or if continued access would create a security risk. Where we terminate a paid subscription without cause, we will refund any prepaid fees for the unused portion of the term.
On termination, the license granted to you ends and you must stop using the App. Sections that by their nature should survive, including ownership, feedback, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law, and this section, survive termination.
13.Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in the State of Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any competent court to protect our intellectual property. Nothing in this section deprives you of mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer-protection rules and courts of your country of residence may also be available to you, and nothing in this section deprives you of that protection. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the matter informally.
14.Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, the end of the alpha program, or changes in law. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on the Site with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the App at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service before that date.
15.General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms we present to you, are the entire agreement between you and Vector One regarding the Service.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary.
- Waiver. A failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
- Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is provided for convenience; the English version prevails.
